Following a crankshaft project with DMG Maschinen, “ROTH – Complete Automation Solutions” was commissioned through a partner for a major project involving the production of transmission and clutch housings in France, this time using Heller machines. The 10 machines in total perform all necessary production steps sequentially (including surface finishing, leak testing, measuring, washing, marking, and stacking onto pallets). The challenge was to link all the systems together intelligently so that a potential shutdown would not trigger a domino effect.
During the one-year project, a technical interconnection was successfully established: Using Xelec CAD software and the Siemens Sinumerik 840D control system, the ten machines were interconnected via a total of 10 controllers and 12 control cabinets. By using storage cells as decoupling modules to create buffers, production was smoothed out and minor downtimes were isolated.
