For more than 15 years, the ROTH Group has been active worldwide in the automation of turnkey railway projects . ROTH has gained a great deal of experience, particularly in control technology related to the manufacture and production of railroad wheels, axles, and wheel sets. The world of the railway industry—and railway wheel manufacturing in particular—is unique. As in many other industries, the regulations in this field are highly specialized.
One of the events that has had a lasting impact on the industry here—and is best known to most people—is the 1998 Enschede train accident. For manufacturers, such incidents necessitate, in particular, long-term traceability of production. Batches of wheel production must be traceable through years of data storage. ROTH RPCS makes it possible to generate a complete history file that includes measurement values, reports, and any pending defects. This ensures that every wheel and axle can be traced back to its origin.
In addition, interfaces enable data exchange with customer systems (Level 3, MES, ERP, SAP, and many more). Other important components in RPCS railway projects include, for example, order management and the calculation of OEE availability, etc.
