Working together with our partners to achieve greater success.
The Institute for Control Engineering of Machine Tools and Manufacturing Equipment (ISW) at the University of Stuttgart is one of the leading university research institutes in Germany and internationally in the field of manufacturing automation.
For over 50 years, the ISW has been successfully tackling challenging projects from industry in addition to conducting basic research.
The ISW’s core competencies remain in the fields of industrial control and drive technology as well as production IT. This includes research and development activities focused on innovative control and regulation concepts, the implementation of which ranges from embedded to cloud-based solutions. Industrial communication spans the spectrum from the real-time-critical field level all the way to machine networking in the cloud. Advances in simulation and engineering make it possible to manage this increasing complexity.
Numerous international contacts, a consistently high level of publication activity, close ties to industry, excellent and sustainable teaching, and the management of the B.Sc. and M.Sc. programs in Mechatronics are what give the ISW its particular strength. ROTH also relies on these strengths and collaborates with the ISW on projects in the field of digital engineering for the industrial sector. This allows innovative research approaches to be tested in a directly application-oriented manner.
