Robotics-as-a-Service: The Future of Flexible Automation

We are pleased to be a project partner in an exciting research project at the Ferdinand Steinbeis Institute! The team led by Jens Lachenmaier is investigating how robots can be deployed in the future as flexibly and easily as temporary workers.

The Project: #RaaS – Robotics-as-a-Service

The goal is ambitious: robots are to be integrated into business processes as a flexibly bookable resource —standardized, manufacturer-agnostic, and economically predictable. With the support of AI services, robots will in the future be able to not only perform individual work steps but also independently handle business processes: from cost estimation, through quote preparation and order fulfillment, to documentation, invoicing, and tax payments.

An Ecosystem for Innovation

To test this robotics automation suite, various companies and their capabilities are being brought together within a robust ecosystem.

Four partners have already joined: W. Gessmann GmbH, Wandelbots, the ROTH Group, and EY.
